Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with social service. Selmon is the son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on their family farm near Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The trio made All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in nation by Outland Lombardi, the Outland Awards. Oklahoma was the winner of two National Championships during the three years he was a starting linebacker. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was acknowledged as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. After graduation, he relocated to Tampa where he played nine years with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started a business career. In 1988, he was appointed an account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds at the time he played college football. As of 1975, Lee Roy was a leader of the team. He became associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
